The Waterloo Regional Police Service once again welcomed young leaders from across the region through its annual Chief for a Day contest.

Open to students in Grades 5 to 8 throughout Waterloo Region, the contest invited participants to submit either a short essay (minimum 400 words) or a video response to the question: If you were Chief for a day, what would you do to make a positive impact in your community?

We are pleased to announce this year's winner, Amaira of Kitchener. Amaira reported for duty at Headquarters on June 6, 2026, where she stepped into the role of Junior Chief and shared her ideas for building a stronger, more connected community.

Amaira will also take the stage at the Hearts & Heroes Awards Gala on November 5, 2026, to share her vision and experience with guests from across Waterloo Region.
